Week 4 Day 1: Work

Question: Is replenishing your being a priority in your life?

Comments

  1. My crazy schedule right now has forced me to take a different approach to replenishment than I have in the past. Since I don't get very many extended periods of time off, I have to find moments during the day where I can focus on returning to myself, being still, and setting aside the need for constant productivity. Our culture seems to focus instead on working feverishly to the point of burnout (which is considered admirable by many folks) and then taking a long vacation, and then repeating the cycle over and over again. It doesn't seem particularly sustainable to me for long-term wellness and wholeness.

  2. I found my reaction to this particular video interesting, because it is probably not what I would have considered even a couple of years ago. All I could think about is how much of a privilege it is to be able to take a vacation. There are so many who must work multiple jobs to be able to care for their families and literally cannot take time off. Recently I heard the term "thriving wage" as a goal to replace "living wage" as the goal for all workers. I wish we could see that type of mindset shift in the U.S.
